Magic Cookie Bars

I’m featuring a favorite of many today. Something easy to make with the rich flavor of chocolate, Magic Cookie Bars. Invite your children to join you in creating these yummy treats. A great activity for introducing young people to culinary techniques and baking. You may have the next great Patisserie and Baking Chef on your hands.

1 1/2 C    graham cracker crumbs

1/2 C      (1 stick) butter or margarine melted

1             (14oz)  can sweetened condensed milk

2 C          (12oz)  semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 1/3 C    flaked coconut

1 C           chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees (325 degrees for glass baking pan). In small bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter, mix well. Press crumb mixture firmly in 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Layer with remaining ingredients and press down firmly with fork. Bake 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

New Moon

The second book of the Twilight series written by Stephenie Meyer was a high stakes project for Summit Entertainment. New Moon succeeded in utilizing all the best parts of the book to bring it to life on the big screen. The movie is a romance, a heartbreak and healing process and a success. True fans will love this movie.

The plot consists of the Cullen's and  Bella’s true love Edward leaving Forks, Washington. Rather than risk staying in Forks and revealing that they are vampires, Edward tells Bella he and his family must move and that he will never see her again. It is almost too much for Bella to bear. Bella finds comfort in her friend Jacob until he is drawn into a cult and changes in frightful ways.

Being the Mother of 2 daughters I did go with one of them to the movie New Moon. I had not read the books or seen the first Movie Twilight. I did however find New Moon entertaining and Jacob’s character darling. My movie review of New Moon on a scale of 1-10, I would give New Moon an 8. It is defiantly worth seeing.
